Hi,

I'm asking all you cycle enthusiasts who have discovered a 2 wheel freedom and independence never before dreamt possible to help me to inspire all those ladies out there that own a bike but don't ride, to start cycling!

You'll know the type of woman I'm looking for. She's the one that cites fear of cycling on busy roads along with the perception that she has to wear a day-glow jacket, spandex or lycra to get into the bike-scene! Interestingly, these 'excuses' are cited amongst the top 5 reasons for keeping women away from cycling in their droves.

By now, you might be wondering who I am! My name is Jay. I'm a female cycle instructor that teaches the art of cycle road craft in style! You can find more about me at www.cycledivas.co.uk

As a cycle fanatic and professional style consultant, I regularly cycle over 20 miles from Belper to Derby and back in everyday work/leisure wear and heels, much to the despair of those 'sporty' A6 cyclists who must think I'm a little crazy!

So I've got a few things that might inspire the lady in your life or your best pal to start cycling:

1. Heels and Wheels event 16th June 2009 11am Derby Cathedral. This is set to be the hottest fashion, networking and cycling event of the year! Celebrating Bike Week and the emancipation of women through the bicycle, the event, starts off with a fashion show in the Cathedral where our bicycle belles will be free-wheeling down the aisle showing off the most beautiful of this season's summer trends! Then they are whisked off for a fabulous lunch at the Cathedral Quarter Hotel before enjoying an afternoon packed full of bicycle bling on Derby's prestigious Cathedral Green. Here, they can try out a fab range of bikes, get advice on all things bike-scene chic, enter competitions and much more! All for a measly £12! More details can be found at :

Cycle Divas is proud to be associated with Derby CTC Cycle Champions Project, The Big Lottery Fund and Cycle Derby in the presentation of Heels On Wheels.

2. I'm offering any women who can convince me they've got the guts for life-enhancing change the chance to win 7 hours of my time for free!

And she can use my time in anyway she sees fit so long as it’s legal, involves cycling tuition and personal styling!
This UK challenge is open to woman who can convince me they deserve my time, is over the age of 16, owns a bike, is prepared to cover my travel costs outside of Derbyshire to their location and can commit to receiving my wisdom before 30th September 2009!

More info available at www.cycledivas.co.uk/cyc_divas/Convince_Us.html

By the way, if you're a guy that hates the lycra and spandex and is a bit of a fashionista, you can apply too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I make no apologies for plugging cycle divas since I am truly passionate about inspiring women to unleash their true potential via the 2 wheeled goddess!

If you have any comments, leave them here or contact me directly at style@cycledivas.co.uk!
