CONNECTING DERBY- TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
There will be changes in access arrangements to Friary Street and Stafford Street starting next week.
On Tuesday 1st February Friary Street will have to be closed at the junction with Stafford Street to carry out work to lower the road:
Stafford Street will become one-way from Ford Street to Uttoxeter New Road.
Traffic from Ford Street will continue to the new roundabout at Uttoxeter New Road, where it will be able to either turn left to Curzon Street or go straight ahead to Uttoxeter New Road.
Traffic coming down Uttoxeter New Road towards the city will not be allowed into Stafford Street but will be diverted into Curzon Street.
View a map showing the diversion route .
Unfortunately residents in Stafford Street, and users of the Wilkinson's Yard car park will have to access their properties and the car park from the direction of Ford Street and, if they are coming down Uttoxeter New Road, the diversion will be through Curzon Street, Cheapside, Bold Lane and onto St. Alkmund's Way into Ford Street and then Stafford Street.
Temporary traffic signals will be installed at the new roundabout at Uttoxeter New Road to control the traffic movements.
Access into Friary Street, which will become two way, will be from its junction with Curzon Street. The traffic signals at the junction will be modified to cater for this change.
The work will take two weeks to complete. On completion, Friary Street will remain closed off but Stafford Street will become two-way, along with Ford Street, thereby opening this section of the ring road.
