Local cycle club, Derby Mercury have announced that they will be running a grass track racing event at the Big Cycle Weekend. Grass track racing is a fast and exciting form of cycling that can be best described as speedway on grass.

The racing will be held just adjacent to the main festival site at Markeaton Park on the Sunday starting at 1:30pm. The event will be open to all those under 16. If you fancy giving it a go please bring a bike with working breaks and a helmet. Winners will be presented with limited edition Cycle Derby medals.

Derby Mercury will be at the Big Cycle Weekend both Saturday and Sunday with the Racing Roller Challenge in the main marquee. You'll be able to race against the clock and the male and female winners at the end of both days will receive a Cycle Derby medal. 

The Club have been working with Cycle Derby since the start of the year and are working to achieve Go Ride status from British Cycling.
